Former Stereophonics drummer Stuart Cable has written a book about his time with the Welsh rock band.
Cable was a founder member of the group, and in fact gave them their name after spotting the term on an old record belonging to his father.
Debut album ‘Word Gets Around’ was critically acclaimed but failed to set the charts alight. However follow up ‘Performance And Cocktails’ spawned the top three single ‘Bartender And The Thief’ launching the group into the upper echelons of the British music industry.
Massive success followed, but all was not well in the group with rumours of infighting. Stuart Cable was sacked from Stereophonics in September 2003, with many predicting the end of the Welsh band.
However Stereophonics have gone from strength to strength, with their first post-Cable single ‘Dakota’ going on to become perhaps their biggest hit to date.
Stuart Cable has gone on to work in television and radio, but has also performed onstage with British rock band Stone Gods.
The drummer is due to reveal all about his time with the band in the formidably titled autobiography ‘Demons And Cocktails’. A pun on the title of their hit album, the book will apparently “reveal the true personalities” of the people he worked with.
According to idle speculation, Cable did not get on with lead singer Kelly Jones leading to his removal from the group.
Stuart Cable released his new books ‘Demons And Cocktails’ on April 6th.
