Starita is marking his return with latest single ‘Home’, released via Be Still Records.
A spacious composition from the Mississippi-born musician, the track urges for a moment to pause and reflect. Incorporating elements of ambient and experimental music, Starita takes an avant-garde approach to his craft, exploring themes of loss and existence through a blend of original production and field recordings. Inviting the tones of Destani Wolf for a more in-depth, spiritual listen, ‘Home’ builds upon the multi-disciplinary’s reputable music catalogue, whilst venturing into a new direction.
Across the years, Starita has uniquely leant into collaboration, working with members of A Tribe Called Quest to Los Amigos Invisibles, Michael Franti and Spearhead. Through his work, the artist channels the influence of dance, funk, rock and techno music into a more intricate and subtle sound palette. Now, the riser gears up to his sophomore album ‘Remember’, a genre-spanning collection of tracks that trace a middle ground between acoustic and electronic textures. Arriving as the second single taken from his upcoming full-length project, ‘Home’ is a heart-felt offering that feels grounded and familiar.
As the artist gears up to his second release in 2024, Starita continues to uphold his creative spark.
Speaking on his latest single, Starita comments:
Usually in an ambient composition there are no vocals, but with this song, I wanted intimate vocals that expand into a massive vocal wash. I knew the one person that was perfect for the sound I was going for and that was singer and songwriter, Destani Wolf. We’ve worked together in the past so I was very familiar with her extraordinary vocal abilities. She has one of the largest ranges of any vocalist I’ve worked with, not only in relation to notes but how she can bring a listener in with intimacy and peacefulness then expand into a powerhouse of soulful bliss.
It really is an amazing gift to be able to work with her on this song and the other tunes on the record yet to be released.
Tune in now.
