Springsteen Denies Affair

The Boss talks tough

Iconic American songwriter Bruce Springsteen has denied having an affair, after being named in a New Jersey divorce suit.

Bruce Springsteen married his wife Patti Scialfa in 1991 and the pair are thought to have one of the most solid partnerships in music. The pair have raised a family together, and invite neighbours from miles around to their annual Halloween parties.

However the songwriter was named in court papers in the divorce of New Jersey couple Arthur and Ann C Kelly. The case led to Mr Kelly accusing his wife of committing “adultery with one Bruce Springsteen, who resides in Rumson, N.J. , and Colts Neck, N.J. , at various times and places too numerous to mention.”

The case echoes a separate case from 2006 in which The Boss was also accused of adultery. On that occasion he issued an angry denial, and a new statement from his representative claims that Springsteen “stands by the statement he posted on his website in August 2006”.

“However, due to the unfounded and ugly rumors that have appeared in the papers over the last few days, I felt they shouldn’t pass without comment. Patti and I have been together for 18 years — the best 18 years of my life” he wrote at the time.

“We have built a beautiful family we love and want to protect and our commitment to one another remains as strong as the day we were married,” Springsteen’s statement continued.

Bruce Springsteen is set for a busy summer. The singer usually steers clear of the festival circuit but has already confirmed appearances for Glastonbury and Hard Rock Calling, The Boss is also due to take his spectacular live show on the road, playing new album ‘Working On A Dream’ at stadiums across the UK.
