Spring King On Their Debut Album

Beats1 catch up with the highly rated newcomers...

Spring King have spoken to Beats1 about the recording of their much anticipated debut album.

The band took part in UK Represent on Julie Adenuga's show, with the full episode set to air on the station at 9pm tonight (May 4th).

Speaking about the sessions for their debut album, the group said: "Just continuing to do it the way that we have always done it but on a slightly bigger scale I suppose. We went to a study in Lincolnshire called Chapel Studios, and we just kind of ran the whole sessions ourselves for a couple of weeks, just like we would at home."

"There was a point the assistant was like ‘alright do you want me to help you set up the guitars’, and I was like we are going to do them in the bedroom because we are so used to recording them in a bedroom. He was like ‘there are £50k worth of microphones here’ and I was like yeah just come back in a day, took Pete upstairs and we just recorded. All the guitars in the album are recorded upstairs in the studio or in the bedroom in my house."

Fans shouldn't expect something polished, though, with the band retaining the visceral energy of those early recordings. "We feel more comfortable there but also the sound we get out of that is the Spring King sound and we kind of realise that a little bit once we are in the studio".
