Eclectic US indie rockers The Spinto Band have issued an unusual appeal after their singer lost his kazoo, it has emerged.
The band were touring the US and had just finished a fantastic show in Brooklyn when singer Thomas Hughes discovered his kazoo was missing.
That might not seem like a big deal, but the humble kazoo is integral to the band’s sound. Brought by African slaves to America, the modern kazoo is thought to have been invented in Georgia, USA by a man named Alabama Vest. Not that his discovery did him much good – it was patented by Thaddeus Von Clegg and went on to become a global smash.
The Spinto Band issued the following appeal for the instruments return:
“Hey folks,
This is Thomas writing. I lost my kazoo at our last Brooklyn show and haven’t been able to find another one so I was wondering if you’d be so nice as to bring one along if you plan on attending a Spinto Band show in the next couple of days…Your reward will be a pack of new Spinto Band buttons!
[while supplies and demand lasts]
Love,
thomas”
