LA-based French-Korean singer-songwriter spill tab – real name Claire Chicha – shares a taster of her debut album today with the release of new track, ‘De Guerre’.
Co-produced by spill tab and apob alongside Mikey Freedom Hart (Taylor Swift, Empress Of), the hedonistic ‘De Guerre’ weaves together offhand French spoken word with a mesh of sonic references: allusions to grunge and garage before a symphonic crescendo brings the listener back down to earth.
Speaking about the song, spill tab says: “’De Guerre’ is my personal soundtrack to a chaotic night out on the town – dancing, sweating, going absolutely feral, indulging in my vices, ignoring every consequence, and just being in my body.”
‘De Guerre’ follows ‘PINK LEMONADE’ released last year, which coincided with the announcement of spill tab signing to Because Music. The singer released her ‘KLEPTO’ EP in 2023 which came on the heels of her stint supporting Sabrina Carpenter on tour.
Raised by a French Algerian composer father and a Korean pianist mother, Chicha spent her early years immersed in music at her parents’ post-production studio, absorbing jazz, classical, and other diverse influences. Following a childhood spent between LA, Thailand, and Paris, where she picked up guitar and soaked in a variety of musical traditions, spill tab developed a distinctive sound blending raw-edged guitar confessionals with anthemic pop hooks.
