The murder trial of producer Phil Spector has toured the famed pop star’s mansion.
Phil Spector stands accused of murdering actress Lana Clarkson in 2003 – Clarkson was found dead at Spector’s mansion due to gunshot wounds. In his defence, the producer argues she killed herself.
Phil Spector rose to fame with his innovative ‘Wall of Sound’ technique. These so called ‘symphonies for kids’ remain the bedrock of modern pop music, with a run of classics that can rarely be equalled.
The jury viewed the mansion despite objections from the prosecution. It is alleged that the producer tampered with a fountain on a previous inspection of the property. Spector’s previous trial ended with a split verdict, leading to a re-trial.
Jurors were able to view the room Clarkson died in, with the blood-stained chair she lay in still evident.
Spector’s home in Alhambra suburb of Los Angeles is an elaborate mansion known as the ‘Pyrenees Castle’, which contains suits of armour, crystal chandeliers and red velvet drapes.
Phil Spector’s trial is ongoing.
