Specials Announce Leeds Show

Massive date from 2-Tone legends

Reformed ska-punk legends The Specials are set to play a massive one off gig in Leeds’ Millennium Square.

Formed in the aftermath of punk, The Specials blended the sounds of ska with the furious energy of punk rock. After touring with The Clash the band came under the wing of notorious manager Bernie Rhodes, before breaking free and forming their own label 2-Tone.

The Specials’ distinct sound and image cut a swathe through British music as the 80s dawned. The band scored seven Top Ten singles in a row, including two number ones.

Spawning an entire movement, the band split in 1981. Amongst the best loved British groups of the period, The Specials’ reformation last year was greeted with glee by the group’s fans.

Tickets for their upcoming anniversary tour sold out in an hour, with fans clamouring for briefs. The new date in Leeds Millennium Square will host 7000 people, making it one of the biggest shows the group have ever played.

In other Specials related news the band have also been confirmed for T In The Park and Oxegen.

The Specials will play the following date:

February
24 Leeds Millennium Square
