Special New Pre-Ziggy David Bowie Release Confirmed

It lands on Record Store Day...

Special new David Bowie vinyl release ‘Waiting In The Sky (Before The Starman Came To Earth)’ has been confirmed.

Today – January 6th – represents David Bowie’s birthday, and fans are celebrating his life, work, and legacy. The Bowie vaults continue to spring a few surprises, such as this incoming vinyl release focussing on his glam rock transformation.

Recorded in the weeks before the Ziggy Stardust album came into being, ‘Waiting In The Sky (Before The Starman Came To Earth)’ captures a fascinating period of evolution.

The album is taken from the Trident Studios 1/4” stereo tapes dated December 15th, 1971, and displays the incredible creativity running through David Bowie and the Spiders from Mars. Featuring four songs that wouldn’t make the cut for the final – iconic – ‘Ziggy Stardust’ tracklisting, including a fresh take on Chuck Berry’s rock ‘n’ roll warhorse ‘Round And Round’.

The wonderful cover photo was snapped at an early Ziggy Stardust period session by Brian Ward, and the two sides of the inner bags are the fronts of the two Trident Studios tape boxes.

‘Waiting In The Sky (Before The Starman Came To Earth)’ will be released on Record Store Day 2024 – April 20th. Tracklisting:

Side 1
Five Years
Soul Love
Moonage Daydream
Round And Round
Amsterdam
