All star musical project Soulsavers have confirmed a series of British tour dates which are set to kick off in August.
Mark Lanegan likes to keep busy. The one time Screaming Trees frontman has leant his gravely voice to a number of projects recently, with the American singer turning into a regular Renaissance man.
In addition to his own solo work Mark Lanegan has recorded two albums with Scottish musician Isobel Campbell, as well as being a member of The Gutter Twins. However it is his involvement with Soulsavers which has prompted the most intrigue.
Soulsavers began life as a production duo containing Rich Machin and Ian Glover, with the duo releasing their debut album ‘Tough Guys Don’t Dance’ back in 2003. A collection of down tempo electronica, it gained numerous critical plaudits.
The duo are now set to follow this with a new album that contains some familiar faces. Mark Lanegan has added his vocals to a number of tracks for ‘Broken’ which is due to land in UK record stores in August.
Lanegan is an old friend of the duo, having worked on their previous album ‘It’s Not How Far You Fall, It’s The Way You Land’. The American singer has roped in some compatriots for the new album, with the likes of Mike Patton and Butthole Surfers’ singer Gibby Hayes due to appear.
Other guest vocalists on the album include Jason Pierce of drone-rockers Spiritualized and Richard Hawley. One of the most eagerly anticipated albums of the year in some quarters, Soulsavers are set to release ‘Broken’ on August 17th.
The collective have confirmed three British tour dates, although with such a lengthy list of collaborators it is not known what format their live show will take. In addition to this, Soulsavers are set to play at Reading and Leeds at the end of the month.
