Sonic Youth guitarist Lee Ranaldo is set to offer fans guitar lessons for free.
Fusing avant garde techniques with the rock tradition, Sonic Youth helped to modernise the guitar. No more would bands find themselves trapped in the 12 bar – in fact, they wouldn't even use standard tuning.
Continuing to experiment and push ahead, the band's Lee Ranaldo recently returned with new solo album 'Last Night On Earth'. Out now via Matador, it's a wonderful offering with Ranaldo displaying a rare sense of depth in both the music and his lyrics.
Echoing the real life New York tradition 'Dan Smith Wants To Teach You Guitar' the musician has now unveiled plans to host a free guitar workshop.
Taking place on October 28th, the event occupies Manhattan record store Other Music. A one off chance to get up close to a true guitar maverick, you'd best get down early… (via FACT)
