Sofia Kourtesis has laid out plans for her debut album ‘Madres’.
The electronic producer has a deep bond with her family – breakout single ‘La Perla’ was an ode to her father, a discussion of Peruvian identity constructed against a backdrop of club flavours.
Debut album ‘Madres’ taps into these themes, going deeper than ever before. Last year Sofia enjoyed trips around the world, but in between her DJ travels she would return to Peru, helping her mother through a period of ill health.
Diagnosed with cancer, Sofia’s mother was given only a small chance of recovery – yet, somehow, she’s making it. These journeys – and more – infuse her debut album, which lands on October 27th via Ninja Tune.
Set to play a string of live dates in November – notably London‘s Islington Assembly Hall and Manchester‘s Canvas – Sofia Kouresis has just shared beautiful new song ‘Si Te Portas Bonito’.
Out now, it leans into the uplifting energy of her production style, enveloping you in subtle layers of sound. Sofia comments: “If you want to date someone special ! Step up your game and behave nice…”
