So Have Iceage Gone Rockabilly?

Check out new track 'The Lord's Favourite'...

Across two albums, Danish punks Iceage have established a certain template.

Essentially rooted in hardcore, their songwriting absorbs some of post-punk's agile angles which retaining a lust for what is essentially classic pop.

It works – just ask their fans. A few moments ago the band placed new cut 'The Lord's Favorite' online and it's already dividing opinion.

Somewhat of a diversion from the norm, it finds Iceage heading in a defiantly rockabilly direction. There's a 'Train Kept A-Rollin' style rhythm, with the guitars echoing that tribal period of 50s rock 'n' roll.

Elias Bender Rønnenfelt supplies some typically slurred vocals, with 'The Lord's Favourite' retaining the attitude – if not the sound – of those epochal LPs.

Catch Iceage at London's Jabberwocky festival on August 16th.
