As the regal rock warlord behind McLusky and future of the left, Andy Falkous' position in the Clash list of All Time Awesome People is assured.
So when news broke of a potential solo project, chores were dropped, ears were pricked up and the stereo was switched on. Christian Fitness features songs written, performed and recorded by Andy Falkous – for the most part on his own.
Here's an intro: "one 'man'. band. NOT a solo artist. all songs created by imagined multiple personalities, some of which are shy. first record 'i am scared of everything that isn't me' recorded at home. drums on some songs by stuffy, who is a very good drummer. one bass-line by my wife, who is a very good bass-player (and wife)."
First cut 'aghest, anew, anon' was an almost post-punk tinged effort, with choppy guitar lines set against grainy vocals shrouded low in the mix. Speaking to fans on Twitter, Falkous explained that the track was a homage of sorts to Sugar's unjustly under-rated 'Beaster' mini-album (which is fine by us).
New track 'teeth' is online now. Rhythmically, it certainly fits into future of the left's caustic groove but with much more lo-fi feel. Lyrically, it's prime Falko: "mother eating mother in a celebration of humanity" anyone?

A full album from christian fitness is forthcoming – when we know the full details, we'll tell you.
