Northern Ireland / Dundee group Snow Patrol today confirmed their return with new album “A Hundred Million Suns” available through Fiction on October 27th.
Recorded this summer in the legendary Hansa Studios in Berlin (where Bowie recorded his legendary Berlin trilogy) and also at Grouse Lodge in the Irish countryside. Produced by Jacknife Lee, who also had a hand in Bloc Party’s new album, the record is said to be a progression from the band’s hugely successful sound.
The group’s last album “Eyes Open” was a massive commercial success on its release in 2006, becoming the biggest selling album of the year with sales of over 1.6 million. This was enough to outdo both Arctic Monkeys and reformed pop monkeys Take That.
Formed in Dundee while attending university, Snow Patrol have risen from indie obscurity on the Jeepster label to become a bona fide stadium act. The new album will be preceded by the single “Take Back The City” to be released on October 13th. The video for the single will be directed by the renowned Alex Courtes, responsible for the seminal promo that accompanied The White Stripes’ “Seven Nation Army”.
