Snow Patrol’s Gary Lightbody has described Leona Lewis’ cover of their 2003 hit ‘Run’ as “absolutely phenomenal”.
The singer, having won The X Factor in 2006 released her rendition of Run after pressure from the public. It has consequently sold 133,591 copies in seven days and has become the fastest selling digital download track of all time.
The single appeared on the Snow Patrol album ‘Final Straw’ and reached number five. However, Leona Lewis has gone one better and scooped the top spot.
Lightbody told the Daily Record how astounded my Leona’s talent “I’m not a big fan of shows like The X-Factor, but when talent like this comes along, I can’t slate it. She’s going to be around in 20 years. She’s the next Whitney. She takes my breath away.”
