Smiths Not Playing Coachella

Re-Union Rumors Discounted

Hearts are breaking across the indie nation, as a source close to the Smiths have stated that the band are not about to reform any time soon, it is reported.

In British tabloids today it was rumored that the band were set to reform and play the Coachella festival in America for a multi-million pound fee. However, a source close to The Smiths has denied that any such plans were put in place.

The Smiths split in 1987, and since then the members have been involved in two court cases over royalties. Songwriters Morrissey and Johnny Marr have rarely spoken since the split, but a collaboration on new retrospective ‘The Sound Of The Smiths’ sparked rumors that the two had patched things up.

Morrissey had previously claimed to have turned down an offer worth near £40 million to play the Californian event in 2006. Johnny Marr may yet play the event, however, as he is a member of both Modest Mouse and The Cribs.

New career spanning retrospective ‘The Sound Of The Smiths’ is released on November 10th.
