Reformed grunge-goth act Smashing Pumpkins have announced that they will premiere their new single “G.L.O.W.” in the next edition of the hugely popular game Guitar Hero.
Led by Billy Corgan, the band were one of the best-selling American acts of the 90s before splitting as the Millenium dawned. They recently reformed, and new single “G.L.O.W.” is much anticipated.
The track will initially form part of the new Guitar Hero game. The franchise has taken the gaming world by storm, and for its next installment the game will offer a download pack containing “G.L.O.W.” and two classic Smashing Pumpkins tracks – “1979” and “The Ever Lasting Gaze”. In addition to this, frontman Billy Corgan will appear in the game to perform the sing “Today”.
“G.L.O.W.” will be released as a single at a later date. Games publisher Activision commented that “this marks the first time a band has recorded a new song exclusively for the franchise which will be released afterwards, giving Guitar Hero fans exclusive access to Smashing Pumpkins music before anyone else.”
