Slowdive have shared new song ‘the slab’.
The band returned with their self-titled album in 2017, a magnificent record that spurred on a period of international touring. Since then, the shoegaze legends have focussed on their side hustles, before reconvening for something new.
Airing fresh material during a Glastonbury set this summer, Slowdive will release new album ‘everything is alive’ on September 1st. Recent singles ‘kisses’ and ‘skin in the game’ lead the way, with new single ‘the slab’ displaying the group at their most intense.
While Slowdive are often associate with the more ethereal edge of shoegaze the band have always had a heavier side, notably during those live sets. ‘the slab’ taps into this, presenting a rush of textured yet intense noise.
Vocalist/guitarist Neil Halstead comments: “This is the heaviest track on the record and as the name suggests we wanted it to feel like a big slab of music. We wanted it to feel very dense.”
Alongside this, Slowdive have outlined plans for a spatial audio playback at L-Acoustics Creations in London. The event takes place on August 23rd, and tickets are on sale now.
