NYC risers Slow Fiction have shared new single ‘January’.
The hotly-tipped band have signed to key tastemaker imprint So Young Records, with Slow Fiction set to touch down in the UK next month. Slated to play a high profile slot at The Great Escape, the five-piece will release new EP ‘Crush’ on May 28th.
Out now, ‘January’ is a paean to escapism, to leaving behind the wreckage of your emotional winter, and embracing the warmth of the spring sun.
A surging piece of whip-smart indie rock, ‘January’ wears its heart on its sleeve. Vocalist Julia Vassallo explains…
“The reckoning, I guess. Looking back and forward at the same time. Knowing that you just experienced something difficult, and you aren’t out of the woods quite yet, but you can be eventually. Accepting that you’ve been the antagonist in your life at certain points. Anäis Nin said: A kiss can destroy a philosophy.”
Looking ahead to new EP ‘Crush’, Slow Fiction call it “an intimate snapshot of a life and a commentary on human nature as a whole. It represents the dual and cyclical nature of love and loss. To have, to hold, to break, to burn.”
Tune in now.
