sleaford mods and Hot Chip have united for a special one-off single.
The groups have long been acquainted, crossing paths at festivals across the land. War Child teamed up with Abbey Road Studios to provide an irresistible offer – a special studio session that would see them combine forces.
Yep, the one-off HOT MODS release is now here – sleaford mods and Hot Chip have combined on two tracks, available for your audio delectation right now.
Brought to you via Bristol label and record shop Friendly Records in aid of charity War Child, both tracks have their own sonic DNA – ‘Nom Nom Nom’ perhaps leans more into sleaford mods caustic blueprint, while ‘Cat Burglar’ is a “weird prog rock meets B52s jam”.
Sounds like our cuppa, in other words.
The two videos are online now, utilising some boutique, specially commissioned David Shrigley artwork.
“On the day we went in cold and just handed ourselves over to it. Nom Nom Nom is a lyrical continuation from our album ‘UK GRIM’ over Andrew’s keyboard riff, built on by Hot Chip and finishing up with an excellent chorus from Alexis,” explains Sleaford Mods’ Jason Williamson. “’Cat Burglar’ is a weird prog rock meets B52s jam that explores the narrow corridors of modern human experience.”
Tune in now.
