Skydaddy Shares Debut EP ‘Pilot’

"This mini-album marks a relinquishing of fear and self-doubt..."

London-based artist Skydaddy has today released his debut EP ‘Pilot’.

Skydaddy is the moniker of musician Rachid Fakhre, and represents rebirth, as for Rachid the project has risen out of the ashes of former musical ventures. ‘Pilot’ is a reclamation of the multi-instrumentalist’s Lebanese heritage; the five-track collection features a duet with Tyler Cryde of Black Country, New Road, careening between ambient-jazz sound collages, marathon orchestral codas and oblique confessionals.

Speaking on his new EP, Skydaddy says:

“Like most people’s debut foray into solo music, this mini-album marks a relinquishing of fear and self-doubt. That said, much of the lyrical matter deals with these themes. The first song tells of creative obsession and disillusionment. The second is a political number, the third deals with lacking a sense of belonging; the fourth is a twisted love song and the final song sees all these themes coalesce into one cathartic ego death. To call it a solo album feels wrong as there were so many who helped this project come to life – mainly the players involved who have shown unfading support as well as friends, management and many others who have thrown favours at me. I hope to repay them soon.”

Previously released singles have been accompanied by visuals shot between London and Lebanon; ‘That Morning’, ‘His Masterpiece’ and ‘Tear Gas’. With the EP release comes a new video for EP focus track ‘Everything’.
