Leeds based indie titans Sky Larkin are due to release their new single ‘Antibodies’ only on cassette.
The band first came to public attention with a series of blinding singles on cult imprint Dance To The Radio. The band made the move to Wichita, and released their acclaimed debut album ‘The Golden Spike’ earlier this year.
Sky Larkin are no strangers to unusual formats. The band’s previous single ‘Beelines’ broke new ground by being released in an innovative wristwatch format – surely a first!
‘Antibodies’ will be released on a limited edition C60. The A Side will contain the single track plus four remixes of songs from their debut album. On the flipside will be three exclusive new pieces of music – each one curated by an individual band member.
This is the latest development in the revival of the cassette. Nearing extinction, a wave of nostalgia seems to have rushed through music fans with more and more artists releasing special cassette only tracks.
Babyshambles drummer Adam Ficek announced recently that he would release a six track mini album of demos – only on cassette.
Sky Larkin are due to head to SXSW next week, with Wichita labelmates Los Campesinos! in tow. The pair will then embark on a tour of the United States.
