Skepta Launches New Puma Skope Mid Boot With London Token Hunt

Skepta & Puma pack out the Offspring Kings Cross store for the launch of the Skope Boot...

Skepta launched his third and final collaboration with Puma last week giving away the highly sought-after mint green puffer jacket and the latest Skope hiking-inspired Mid Boot. The giveaway was announced on the Outlander Instagram giving fans 48 hours to search for a token shaped in the SK Puma hexagonal logo.

Clues were given for various locations of the tokens such as where Tribal Mark, the movie Skepta directed, premiered (under a specific seat in Everyman Moorgate), where Skepta and Drake might go shopping (the OVO store in Soho), or where Skepta and Slawn might drink tea (BeauBeaus Cafe). From Cinema seats to street signs, the tokens were distributed and replenished with new clues given over the 48 hours, preventing any hoarders.

On Saturday fans queued up outside Offspring in Kings Cross, tokens in hand, ready to meet Skepta and find out if they won the shoe or the puffer. I arrived at 12, an hour before the 1pm start time, to find myself fifth in the queue and excited to meet the GOAT of the UK rap scene. We queued in the spring sunshine, with presenter Morf asking questions to the queue about Skepta and streetwear to keep us entertained. Like most meet and greets, the superfans showed out and during the near two-hour wait we got chatting about our favourite artist. Spirits were high.

As we began to see more people appear in the unmissable mint green puffers, excitement grew. DJ Maximum was playing bangers from inside the store, and at around 2:15PM Skepta arrived surrounded by security and the doors eventually opened to the fans. People queued to cash in their token for either a puffer or the shoes (it seemed everyone wanted the puffer) and then queued to meet Skepta.

Max Meets Skepta – TikTok

When I got upstairs, I saw that everyone was waiting to cash in their token so I skipped this and went straight over to meet Skepta. He was very calm but incredibly lovely and even agreed to a quick interview for my TikTok (which you can watch here).

Wanting to keep it brief as there was a queue of people outside, I thanked him for his time and shook his hand. As I walked away I heard Skepta ask if I had gotten anything from the giveaway yet. I showed my token and said not yet, he then asked for my size and told me to stick around and that he’d give me his own puffer so that I could have one. I couldn’t believe it and so I waited to one side while the meet and greet continued. Whilst chatting to some of Skepta’s team and some of the other fans coming through, I learnt that this is the kind of guy Skepta is, and will often go above and beyond for his fans.

A little while later Skepta handed me a large puffer, checked it was the right size and then went back to meeting and greeting. I left with the shoes, a signed poster, a hand delivered Skepta x Puma puffer jacket and an interview from arguably the greatest rapper in the country. I’m a music journalist, presenter and content creator but it all stems from just being a fan at the end of the day, and on Saturday I was Skepta’s biggest fan.

The shoes are now on sale, going for £200 and the puffer is currently only available in black for £390. If you wanted the green one, you just had to be there!
