Sitrekin Returns To ‘As I Moved On’ From A Fresh Angle

Dreamy, evocative pop music...

Danish artist Sitrekin comes full circle with ‘As I Moved On’.

The project is a vehicle for Kirstine Stubbe Teglbjærg, a hugely respective alt figure in her native Denmark. Her voice is adored by fans, the picturesque qualities of her music leading to some distinctly original places.

The artist’s debut solo album is slated to land later this year, and it follows the huge success of last year’s single ‘Open Chest’ – which went straight to number one on Danish National Radio P6Beat.

Of course, Kirstine has a deep sense of musical heritage. As vocalist with Blue Foundation she helped take the group to international acclaim, particularly on 2004 album ‘Sweep of Days’.

The LP turns 20 this year, with the vocalist deciding to return to classic single ‘As I Moved On’. In the hands of Sitrekin, it emerges as a potent emotional object – totally overhauled, the dreamy sonics envelope you, transforming each note into something unmistakable.

A song that reaches towards the light, Sitrekin seems to embrace her past, in order to surpass it. She comments…

”‘As I Moved On’ is written from a dark place – but with a promise of power, growth and light. The song is about moving on from something that is no longer serving your best. You take a deep breath and throw yourself into the unknown, and then you must find the courage and strength to stand alone – face your own fears, sorrows and limitations. The song is about listening to, and trusting, your inner voice, wherever it takes you. About being true to yourself and stay open, soft and vulnerable, yet at the same time, badass and awe-inspiring, and not letting anyone run you over.”

”The song is also about having the courage and strength to stand alone, if that is what it takes. In contrast to this, the choruses rise in waves of bright melodies, and this illustrates that, if you dare to set out for your journey, it can be scary – yes – but there’s also a chance that something magical can happen.”

Tune in now.
