Sir Winston is marking a return with brand new single ‘Perfectly Numb’.
Transporting his listener back to the 80s, the NYC-based DJ presents a whole-hearted embrace for electro and synthwave on his latest release. Recorded in Brooklyn’s Transmitter Studios, the track equips a racing momentum that points towards the influence of LCD Soundsystem, MGMT and New Order. Yet, although the track carries an essence of nostalgia, it equally points towards a change in direction for the artist. Speaking on how the track first came together, he details: “We found the new sound we were after. Completing it brought total joy – I left the studio beaming.“
It’s an igniting moment taken off of the Sir Winston’s upcoming EP ‘Démons à Combattre’. Since making his debut, the riser has navigated between the worlds of music and fashion, his tracks being used by the likes of Vogue, Victoria’s Secret and Nike. This summer, the polymath also plans to broaden his crowds across the globe, spinning records from one stage to the next.
‘Perfectly Numb’ undoubtedly marks a turning point, one that Sir Winston is proud of. In conversation, he fondly describes; “I love the arpeggiated synth riff – the track grew from that riff and the bass line. When the synth riff was looping in the studio, I yelled, ‘this is making me perfectly numb’ – Booooooom!”
Tune in now.
