Simple Minds Reform

Great Minds Think Alike

The original line up of Simple Minds is set to enter the studio with each other for the first time in 27 years this summer, it has been announced.

Fans had long given up hope of ever seeing this event happen but Brian McGee, Derek Forbes, Mick McNeil, Jim Kerr and Charlie Burchill will re-enter the studio with each other for a short time in June. Described by the band as a short experiment, Simple Minds are currently in their 30th anniversary year and are reportedly aiming to producer two new tracks for release later this year.

Remembered by many for the less than impressive output of their later years, Simple Minds were initially a very creative group influenced by krautrock and experimental music. Some of their early cuts, such as the instrumental “Theme For Great Cities”, are still inspiring young producers across the globe.

Simple Minds will tour this summer, playing the following UK dates:

June 27th – Hyde Park, London
November 27th – MEN Arena, Manchester
November 28th – NEC Arena, Birmingham
November 29th – Wembley Arena, London
December 1st – Hallam FM Arena, Sheffield
December 2nd – International Arena, Cardiff
December 4th – SECC, Glasgow
