Icelandic post rock giants Sigur Ros are set to release their new single ‘Við spilum endalaust’ (‘We Play Endlessly’) on November 10th, it has been announced.
Sigur Ros have had a phenomenal year, playing a number of acclaimed live shows and releasing the rapturously received album ‘Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust’.
It is from this album that ‘Við spilum endalaust’ is taken. Already a highlight of the band’s live set, it appeared in Sigur Ros’ performance at this year’s Latitude festival – a performance nominated as ‘Best Festival Act’ in the prestigious UK festival awards.
In addition to this, the band are preparing to screen two new films. Directed by Nick Abrahams, the new cinematic works use the band’s music to moving effect. The first film follows Sigur Ros on a world tour, while the second is a documentary on the recording of a new piece of music. ‘Ára bátur’ was recorded live at Abbey Road by the band with a 69-piece orchestra and a 20-piece boys choir, conducted by Icelandic maestro Daniel Bjarnasson.
The films will be screened at the Odeon Covent Garden on November 10th.
