Shrag Complete New Album

'Canines' set to be released in May

Art punks Shrag are set to release their new album ‘Canines’ through WIAIWYA and Fortuna POP! in May.

Formed almost by accident and named after an imaginary artistic commune, Shrag have gone on to make some stunning music.

Now two albums into their career, the band’s jagged take on indie rock has won them numerous admiring glances. Secluding themselves away to work on new material, Shrag are now able to release their third album.

Indie imprints WIAIWYA and Fortuna POP! will join forces for the release of ‘Canines’, which is set to drop in May. Recorded at Gargleblast Studios with producer Andy Miller, the album is apparently another confident step forward from Shrag.

Wordsmith Helen King explains: “We wrote Canines between January and August this year in a long series of slightly fevered evenings ensconced in the shed at the bottom of Bob’s garden. It’s a pop record about bones and skin and cities and compulsions and love and confusion. It’s a bit strange, but you can dance to some of it, and it makes a particular kind of sense to us, which feels very exciting.”

The first material from the album will emerge around a February tour. Hooking up with Atlanta, GA band Tunabunny, the two groups will release a split seven inch on February 20th.

Opening in Brighton on February 23rd, Shrag will then play shows in London, Cardiff, Preston and more. Hitting Glasgow on February 29th, the band will visit the confines of the Captains Rest.

Returning to England, the tour finishes with a show at The Victoria in London on February 3rd. Tickets are on sale now.
