Shivum Sharma’s ‘7am’ Offers R&B Introspection

A beautiful new song...

Shivum Sharma returns with new song ‘7am’.

Out now, the track offers a dose of R&B introspection, and finds Shivum working alongside revered producer Karma Kid. Utilising a beautiful sound palette, the opaque textures act as the perfect backdrop for the South London artists magnificent vocals.

Continually toying with identity, Shivum recalls Prince at his mind-warping best, while his vocal idols include jazz-soul wonder Minnie Riperton. Keeping things up to date, he also cites ‘The Velvet Rope’ era Janet and prime Madonna as key influences – and you can hear traces of both of those pop futurists on the finished results.

Lyrically, ‘7am’ becomes a means to open up fresh space for voices that might otherwise be excluded – voices like his own.

“I recognise how important it is to amplify and nurture young marginalised voices including those of QPOC and LGBTQI+,” says Shivum. “These are often voices that are silenced and considered unimportant and through my work as a DJ, radio host and through my musical collaborations I aim to spotlight them.”

Tune in now.
