Sharon Van Etten & The Attachment Theory Share ‘Southern Life (What It Must Be Like)’

Engaging with different perspectives...

Sharon Van Etten & The Attachment Theory have shared new single ‘Southern Life (What It Must Be Like)’.

Out now, the song is the latest statement from the band, a fresh project from a revered voice in American music. Recently making their live bow in LA, Sharon Van Etten & The Attachment Theory will release a self-titled album on February 7th, with tour dates in Britain following in Spring.

New song ‘Southern Life (What It Must Be Like)’ is out now, and it’s a timely attempt to engage with other perspectives. For Americans wrestling with the recent Presidential election result, the lyrics must touch deep – a paean to compassion, an attempt to move past boundaries.

Sharon Van Etten says the song is about “trying to understand people with very different perspectives and backgrounds, while also trying to be compassionate towards our past, present, and future selves.”

Penned during rehearsals in the desert at Gatos Trail in the Yucca Valley, a neat Ethan Dawes directed video has emerged shot during the band’s recent surprise performance at the iconic Los Angeles concert venue The Viper Room.

Tune in now.
