South London wrecking crew Shame have shared new melter 'Concrete'.
The band signed to Dead Oceans a few weeks back, promising new material as they did so.
New single 'Concrete' leads the pack, and it's a scuzzy post-punk monster with a chugging bass-line that writhes and spasms.
An imposing return, it explores the unhealthy manner in which faltering relationships can impinge on your life.
Frontman Charlie Steen explains: “It’s about someone who’s trapped in a relationship and they’re being pummelled into surrender”.
“It’s not about a physically abusive relationship – more an emotionally and psychologically draining one. The call-and-response vocals [between Steen and bassist Josh Finerty] is the central figure’s own internal dialogue. They are dealing with two different things that they don’t want to address.”
Tune in now.
