Shalom has shared her new single ‘Soccer Mommy’.
The Brooklyn based songwriter will release her debut album ‘Sublimation’ on March 10th, courtesy of the fine folks at Saddle Creek. A label with a fine roster, Shalom both speaks to their heritage while adding something different.
A true music fan, her new song ‘Soccer Mommy’ is about, well, Soccer Mommy. Y’know… Soccer Mommy.
She’s also a long-time Clash fave, so we’re glad everyone is on the same page here. Lucid, fun, melodic indie pop, it’s a song that reflects on the importance that music holds in our lives, in addition to functioning a neat lil indie pop tune in its own right.
The video was shot at a DIY space in New Brunswick, and features local all-girl heroines Valentine’s Day.
Shalom comments…
This song is about a time in my life that I used to be very upset and embarrassed about, but now I’m like, wow, I feel so much better after writing this song. It’s called “Soccer Mommy” because I got my driver’s license in late 2019 and spent my first year on the road listening to ‘Color Theory’ and thinking about my 20-year-old self who didn’t deserve the things that happened to her. I love Soccer Mommy. I’m terrified of driving, but I always felt brave listening to “Circle The Drain” on 287 south.
Tune in now.
