SFA Plan New Album

Instrumental LP Rumored

Welsh wonders Super Furry Animals are putting the finishing touches to their new album, which frontman Gruff Rhys has hinted could be entirely instrumental.

The band have been locked away in a Cardiff studio putting the finishing touches to 2007’s pop masterpiece ‘Hey Venus!’. The ever creative band have been involved in solo projects since then, with Rhys involved with the acclaimed Neon Neon. However the band have re-united and the results are apparently quite different.

Gurff Rhys told the BBC that “It was supposed to be a rock album. But things came out differently when we actually started to make the record.”

Using part of a BBC Orchestra, the band have apparently recorded up to 24 hours worth of music. Rhys said “There will be vocals on it but no lyrics and it will still be fairly melodic. We just need to work out what we’re going to do with the material we have got and cut it down to a reasonable length.”

Super Furry Animals release their new album in 2009.
