And it actually works, in part...

Kasabian and Little Simz aren't natural partners.

In one corner you've got one of the country's most bombastic, loud-mouthed rock groups, a band whose formula is rooted in something classic.

Simz, however, is carving out her own lane, perhaps the most naturally gifted rapper in the country.

Serge Pizzorno sought out Little Simz to launch his new solo project, with The S.L.P. - it stands for Sergio Lorenzo Pizzorno, naturally - sharing brand new single 'Favourites'.

In tandem with its slightly curious cast the song itself feels split into various segments, with the effects-layered Serge vocal delving into arena-rock territory.

When Little Simz takes control the temperature raises a little, before that off piste outro rounds off the single.

Our verdict? There's something in here, for sure, but it feels confused - Serge has always been Kasabian's most musically open-minded force, while Simz utilises live musicianship on recent album 'GREY Area', but the two distinct approaches rarely feel truly complimentary.

There are flickers of sparkling light here and there, but ultimately 'Favourites' could do with finding some sense of coherence.
