Sekou taps into his emotions on new single ‘let go of me slowly’.
The London songwriter is enjoying an incredible rise, with a BRIT Rising Star nomination, sold out shows, and critical acclaim. Set to play London’s Omeara on May 13th, he’ll also hit Cross The Tracks festival, alongside a summer of live commitments.
A beautiful vocalist, Sekou approaches his new single from a place of purity. Out now, ‘let go of me slowly’ offers raw emotion, a sign of his beautifully soulful poetry.
Perfectly executed, ‘let go of me slowly’ draws on real-life experiences, but there’s something universal within Sekou’s art. Speaking about the single, he explains…
This song was inspired by a time in my life when I was going through something, and I didn’t know how to express my feelings about it. It took some time but I went back, I re-read the old texts, and I was finally able to put the words down on paper – I knew I needed to be honest.
It’s freeing – and it’s supposed to be about getting things off your chest and removing that heavy weight from your shoulders that can sometimes still be there after a relationship breaks down.
Tune in now.
