SCOWL’s ‘Shot Down’ Is A Paint-Stripping Dose Of Hardcore Attitude

But there's a pop element, too...

American group SCOWL have shared new single ‘Shot Down’.

The band have caused a ruckus Stateside with their incredible live show – something UK fans got a glimpse of at last year’s Outbreak Festival.

A steady stream of material gives an insight into what we’ve been missing; a brutal sonic assault dipped in hardcore energy, yet with a gleaming pop aspect at its core, too.

New single ‘Shot Down’ is aggressive yet ultimately enticing, reminiscent of those early Ceremony cuts or Palo Alto crew the Donnas. Unyielding but also absorbing, it’s driven forwards by an incredible sense of purpose.

Guitarist Malachi Greene directs the video, and it leads on from the storyline established in previous clip ‘Opening Night’. Singer Kat Moss says of the song…

“This song is supposed to represent a battle between concealing your fears and vulnerability and desperately opening up about said fears. I’m expressing distaste and fury towards the fearful part of myself, “Hate you right now” is aimed at myself. “I wanna impress, impressive sound” – I’m begging to feel confident in my own work and I feel as though this song stealthily disguises those internal fears in a bubblegum hook, only to be immediately punched in the gut with fast guitars and harsh vocals.”

Tune in now.
