American group Scowl have shared new single ‘Tonight (I’m Afraid)’.
The band’s incoming album ‘Are We All Angels’ marked a new era – their first for Dead Oceans, it finds Scowl fully breaking out of the expectations placed on them.
Working in a communal fashion, bassist Bailey Lupo notes “The songwriting on the new record was the most collaborative to date in Scowl’s history. Everyone brought so many ideas to the table and we were able to dissect it all and take our time. We all have such eclectic tastes, influences and personalities and you can really hear that in every corner on this album.”
New song ‘Tonight (I’m Afraid)’ is out now, and it epitomises Scowl’s sense of daring; wide open to fresh influences, it maintains their passion for hardcore intensity, while channelling this in unexpected ways.
Framed by their melodic tendencies, ‘Tonight (I’m Afraid)’ is a work of potent ambition, one that races past with alacrity.
Alongside the track, Scowl have shared a flipbook-style visual from Adult Swim animator Adam Fuchs, playing with themes both nostalgic and, well, pretty dark.
Tune in now.
