Achingly popular pastel-wearing pop-rockers Scouting For Girls head back to the stage in March, beaming from ear to ear after an enormously successful twelve months.
Quite an unforeseen success it was too. The jaunty trio had been pretty much resigned to never making it big after a decade or so of gigging together in numerous never-going-to-make-it bands, when, suddenly, their latest one did. The single ‘She’s So Lovely’ began to swarm all over the radio like the Ebola virus, and the two year-old Girls were suddenly making chicks swoon across the country. Their eponymous debut album made a suitably grand splash in December by hurtling straight to number one.
Now the chaps have entered the next stage of the traditional fairytale big-time crossover success story by (a) announcing a tour of venues 17 times the size of the places they were playing this time last year, and (b) selling them all out.
A new single, ‘Heartbeat’, will also be hitting the airwaves in early April, but the band won’t care too much about that as they’ll be out of the country. After the UK tour is complete they’ll be heading off to America for the first time, with dates in New York and the SXSW festival lined up. Surely they can’t repeat the trick over there too, can they?
