School Of Seven Bells New Album

'Disconnect From Desire' due

Brooklyn three piece School Of Seven Bells are to release their new album ‘Disconnect From Desire’ later this year.

Ah, dream pop. Born out of 80s pioneers such as The Cocteau Twins the genre has been twisted and pulled into all manner of shapes. French electronic group M83 use plenty of sighing vocals, but for something a little more pure you need to look to Brooklyn.

Hailing from Williamsburg, School of Seven Bells erupted with their debut album ‘Alpinisms’ back in 2008. A stunning first effort, it mixed celestial harmonies with slices of pastoral songwriting.

Lyrically, the album was at times obtuse and difficult to follow but this became part of its charm. Word puzzles, ‘Alpinisms’ was more about the joy the sound, the physical effect of music rather than a coherent manifesto.

Touring widely, School Of Seven Bells found an increasing audience for their music. Taking time off last year to focus on new material the Brooklyn trio have completed work on their second album.

Titled ‘Disconnect From Desire’ the new album is due to be released on July 12th in the UK, and the following day in the United States.

Speaking to the NME guitarist Alejandra Deheza revealed that “I’m not nervous at all – I just really wanna move ahead with all these new songs”.

“It’s like, ‘Alright, we’re finally done with this (‘Alpinisms’)’. Don’t get me wrong – I love those songs, but, you know, if the band don’t keep moving I think I’m just gonna lose my mind.”

School Of Seven Bells are set to release their new album ‘Disconnect From Desire’ on July 12th.
