SBTRKT has shared new track ‘Ghost’.
The producer’s return has illustrated his breadth, with the once-masked studio boffin hitting the ground running once more. ‘Bodmin Moor’ was an intriguing piece of sonic world-building, while the ruffneck jungle breaks of ‘Miss The Days’ pointed to his deep system heritage.
‘Ghost’ spins the creative dials once more, with Leilah’s affecting vocal illuminating SBTRKT’s spartan electronics. Marked by the producer’s painterly touch, ‘Ghost’ embodies phantom-like sound, while also asserting the project’s emotional worth.
SBTRKT comments…
“‘GHOST’ is about how noisy the world feels, the fatigue it creates and as a result, shutting down and wanting to dissociate whilst withholding your state of mind…”
“We started this song when I met artist and now friend Saya Gray around three years ago. This was one of the ideas that came from us linking up… Shortly after, I met LEILAH who’s also a very good friend now. We had been writing a lot together over the pandemic and co-wrote the remaining lyrics…”
Tune in now.
