Sarah Julia Shine On New Song ‘Cairngorms’

The video was - appropriately enough - shot in Scotland...

Dutch indie-folk duo Sarah Julia have shared new song ‘Cairngorms’.

The group hit London for their first ever UK show in December, packing out the city’s Lower Third venue. Since then, they’ve been working on new material, perfectly the subtleties of their folk-inflected indie pop vision.

Centred on Rotterdam-raised, Amsterdam-based sisters Sarah and Julia Nauta, the pair work intimately on their revelatory songs. Take new single ‘Cairngorms’ – an ode to childhood, it embraces the vagaries of memories, and invites us to make up our own minds.

Lyrically, it’s about coming of age, and learning to assert your own narratives, all while blessed with a wistful vocal, and a killer chorus.

Oh, and the video was shot in Scotland’s Cairngorms National Park.

The duo comment…

“The Cairngorms are a place our dad used to take us hiking when we were younger. It holds a memory of a version of him that we try to hold on to. While writing the song, we felt a new phase unfolding, where forgiveness led the way. When you find yourself stuck in repetitive thoughts at home, the Cairngorms manage to drown them out.”

Tune in now.
