Sarah Crean Shares ‘Death By Laundry’ EP In Full

Plus, there's a neat live clip, too...

Sarah Crean has shared her new EP ‘Death By Laundry’ in full.

The Irish born songwriter has been through some changes, with her experiences with chronic illness causing a great deal of introspection. Using music as a vessel for these thoughts, Sarah Crean’s work is deeply honest, while also exploring different colours and tones.

A burst of singles caught attention, with songs like ‘Wasted Youth’ becoming fan favourites. Recently playing alongside Bombay Bicycle Club – she supported BLACKPINK, too! – Sarah has just unearthed a live take on ‘Wasted Youth’.

The new clip is part of the celebrations surrounding her new EP, which is online in full. Out now, ‘Death By Laundry’ is beautiful achieved, the lyrics pivoting between different aspects of her psyche.

Take the title song. Drawing on her time in Berlin, it uses the central metaphor – being around new people – as a means to ricochet between elements of her mind.

Sarah explains: “I wrote this track with my time living in Berlin in mind. I had moved to get away from my hometown after a rough few years experiencing illness and issues within friendships etc. I felt the easiest way to avoid dealing with the aftermath of those years was to move and have a fresh start. Naturally with time, the past resurfaced and began to cause issues for me again; hence where ‘Death By Laundry’ comes in.”

Discussing the song’s ‘villain’ – ‘Tom from across the hall’ – Sarah says it “is the version of myself that is damaged by past upset and experiences. I visualised Tom as a vessel for all of the negative thoughts and fears that I wanted to avoid while embarking on my new journey.”

Tune in now.
