Brooklyn singer Santogold is to release her new single “Say Aha” on November 17th, it has been confirmed.
Blending together new wave, rock and dance styles Santogold has concocted a potent musical recipe. Her self-titled debut album was released earlier this year to rave reviews, and spawned the dancefloor hits “L.E.S. Artistes” and “Creator”.
Santogold’s new single “Say Aha” shows a definite reggae influence, with sparkling horns and a bone rattling bass line. Her adoption of new wave and reggae sounds means that Santogold has much in common with the British music scene – more Brixton than Brooklyn. With chanted vocals and a shrewd pop touch, “Say Aha” is set to go racing up the charts.
Santogold’s unique sound has caught the attention of some big names in the music world, evidently, with Kanye West inviting her to be support on his upcoming “Glow In The Dark” tour. A headline tour from Santogold is set to be announced shortly, with UK dates due for the beginning of 2009.
