New collaboration planned

News of an exciting collaboration has emerged as reports suggest Santigold is set to record with The Beastie Boys.

Santigold made one of the most forward thinking pop albums of last year. Working within the industry for years, Santi White as her mother calls her broke free to record on her own terms. Gathering the best bits of new wave, electro and the dub explorations of Brixton and Kingston Santigold crafted something that was chart friendly but also dancefloor savvy.

Singles such as 'L.E.S. Artists' and 'Creator' may have missed the charts but infiltrated the mainstream after appearing on a series of ads. Finishing high up in ClashMusic's end of year poll, the album was as fresh as skinny dipping in the Arctic. During a cold snap.

Released under the name Santogold, the singer confused news editors everywhere by ditching an 'o' and gaining an 'i'. Currently rehearsing for a full band tour of the United States, it seems that Santigold has found time to re-enter the studio.

The Beastie Boys have apparently joined forces with the singer on their forthcoming album. As if that wasn't enough, Santigold is also set to appear on David Byrne's new album. Of course, the Talking Heads vocalist's last album was a choral work, but we won't let that get in the way of a 'Once In a Lifetime' style pop nugget.

According to American magazine Billboard, this isn't all Santigold has up her sleeve. Hip hop producer Pharrell Williams is apparently set to take time off from N.E.R.D. to work on his new solo album, and wants the Brooklyn artist to appear on his record.
