LA pop voice Samia has shared new single ‘Mad At Me’.
The songwriter’s new album – her second, to date – ‘Honey’ will be released on January 27th. Set to support Maggie Rogers on her upcoming European tour, you’ll be able to catch them both at London’s Alexandra Palace on November 10th.
New single ‘Mad At Me’ is online now, and it finds Samia grasping towards confidence. Outwardly, it’s a neat pop bubbler, a coy, curling slice of melody that seems to engage you from first note to last.
Chip away at the surface, however, and you’ll find someone dealing with insecurities, and attempting to move past them. Constructed with Rostam, and with additional help from Papa Mbye, ‘Mad At Me’ is a dose of sunshine for these Autumn days.
She comments…
“The lyrics for ‘Mad At Me’ came from a poem I’d written about imagining what it’d be like to stop caring about what anyone was thinking. I was cosplaying a position that I haven’t experienced – which is of literally any confidence in my point of view. In the video we tried to embody that character – a bunch of girls having a good time in spite of it all. It is a big lie…”
“I wrote it with Rostam Batmanglij on the day we met. Such an honour to have Papa Mbye on it!!”
The colourful video was directed by Samia and Muriel Knudson – tune in now.
