Brighton songwriter Sam Tompkins has shared new single ‘numb’.
Out now, the single is the third preview from his incoming – and long-awaited – debut album. Out later this year, ‘hi, my name is insecure’ follows a string of fantastic projects, including his Top 10 EP release ‘Who Do You Pray To?’ back in 2022.
Since then, he’s sold out London’s eventim Apollo, and goes out on tour with mega-star rapper The Kid Laroi this week – no mean feat for the humble south coast talent.
New single ‘numb’ taps into a feeling of escape, a yearning to be free; delicately etched, it finds Sam Tompkins recalling a tough period in his life, one that left him wishing to feel “nothing at all”.
‘numb’ dares to cover aspects of male mental health, areas that still haven’t fully reached the mainstream – speaking in a frank, honest way, Sam Tompkins delivers an important message in a manner that is bewitching and melodic.
Sam Tompkins comments…
‘numb’ is all about the feeling of wanting to feel nothing at all. Sometimes when you’re struggling that’s the only thing you want. An escape. That’s what I want this song to be… something you can scream in the car or in your room when you feel like the world’s not listening. I really hope people like it.
Tune in now.
