Sam Smith has been named the winner of the BBC Sound Of 2014 poll.
Sam Smith's mantlepiece must be stretched to breaking point. After all, the rising singer has already won some of the most important awards the British music industry can fling at him – and it's not even February yet.

Now the Disclosure collaborator has scooped the BBC Sound Of 2014 poll. Collating the tastes of numerous individuals across the music industry, it is widely seen as one of the most important showcases for new talent.
"I’m completely speechless" said the 21 year-old singer. "It’s a huge compliment to be recognised by the industry and the BBC in this way".
