saachisen Shares Beautiful Single ‘Pastéis de Nata’

"Having a sweet tooth is a key part of my personality..."

saachisen has shared her new single ‘Pastéis de Nata’.

The rising songwriter won acclaim over lockdown, including scooping a coveted shortlist place in Abbey Road’s inaugural topline competition. Taking this energy forwards, the musician blends organic tones with a clear thirst for pop ambition.

Worth aligning alongside the likes of Gabrielle Aplin, or even Taylor Swift’s acoustic-leaning work, saachisen has just shared something new.

New single ‘Pastéis de Nata’ aims for closure from a past relationship, with saachisen trying to sift through trauma and find lasting meaning. The title is obviously a reference to the Portuguese pastry, and there’s something sweet, flaky, and tasty about her musicality.

Portuguese national Maria Viseu contributes violin, while the cello part is played by Linden Ralph.

She comments…

‘Pastéis de Nata’ is the true story of my quest for closure from a past relationship. I loved the process of writing it, because it was so satisfying to tie up the mess of thoughts in my head through the medium of pastry!

Having a sweet tooth is a key part of my personality, so it felt like I was reclaiming events and finally seeing them on my own terms. In the end, the thing that really gave me closure was writing the song itself.

Catch saachisen live in London on March 29th, at Brixton venue Upstairs at the Ritzy.
