Ryan Adams has been accused of controlling, manipulative, and abusive behaviour by several former partners and associates.
A report in the New York Times speaks to several people in the singer's life, who detail lengthy accounts of abusive and controlling behaviour.
Ex-wife Mandy Moore speaks to the broadsheet, and her account is echoed by the experiences of Phoebe Bridgers and songwriter singer-songwriter Courtney Jaye.
The report also claims that Ryan Adams struck up an online relationship with a woman named Ava – he is alleged to have attempted to solicit nudes while she was underage, and it is claimed he exposed himself while on webcam.

Representatives for Ryan Adams responded to the paper's requests for comment, and denied the allegations made against him. Ryan Adams then posted a statement on social media:
I am not a perfect man and I have made many mistakes. To anyone I have ever hurt, however unintentionally, I apologize deeply and unreservedly.

As someone who has always tried to spread joy through my music and my life, hearing that some people believe I caused them pain saddens me greatly. I am resolved to work to be the best man I can be. And I wish everyone compassion, understanding and healing.
